Sonny is please to announce that BP has capped the Deepwater Horizon well and there is no longer oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico! This is a milestone for us in the perception dilemma that has been on the minds of vacationers for the last three months.
Favorable winds and water currents have kept the majority of the oil closer to the well site and has had very little affect on our beaches in Navarre, Ft Walton, Destin, South Walton and Panama City Beach. We have experienced small tar balls washing up occasionally along the shore but crews are on stand-by to pick them up whenever reports come in. There is no smell from the incident and our beaches and waters have not been closed. In fact, tens of thousands of visitors have continued to enjoy our beaches this summer. Also, our seafood is safe and is being happily consumed in hundreds of restaurants along our coast.
Right now our beaches are beautiful, as they have been all summer. The water is crystal clear & the sand sugar white. C’mon down!!! And get your vacation in!
